Using 3D gaming technology, The Kitchen is a fully integrated virtual training programme that provides real time feedback. Developed by Otago Polytech’s School of Hospitality and hitech company The Street, The Kitchen teaches food safety in a real world simulation – at the student’s own pace. The ultimate aim is to be able to gain a qualification from using the programme, without the need for further assessment. We ventured into the kitchens at Otago Polytech to find out what difference virtual learning is making for students and teachers ….
